Ever since I got the big fish tank, I haven’t really had a good place to practice my kung fu anymore. Yes, I can still do some yoga, and hand forms, but with all the water and glass in my main space, I’m very nervous about using the tonfa or stick. I know that I can sometimes be a little clumsy with my weapons and there have been a few times where I have whacked the ceiling with my stick or thrown my tonfa across the room. I’ve tried practicing outside a few times, and I do think that’s a fantastic option. However last week I began to work on transforming our garage into a comfortable training space. The garage had been full of random stuff, but we got it cleaned out and then I made a few changes to make it more comfortable. I put up curtains to hide the shelves along the back, and installed low profile lights that should remain safe from my flying sticks. With a couple of floor mats and some excess deck tiles, the garage has become a comfortable training space, and I think a good space for visiting. My niece had her 8th birthday in the backyard yesterday, and today when I went out to practice my forms, I found that I had a magical visitor, Sparkles the Unicorn. So far I think Sparkles is a pretty good coach and should probably stick around for a while. Also kung fu practice in the middle of the night is very refreshing, and I highly recommend it.
I’d would so practice more if I had a rainbow and a unicorn in my space.
