It is sometimes mind boggling how fast time can fly and how it seems like things slip away from us. We are now ten weeks into the Ih Ho Chuan Challenge, and I have missed almost a full month of blog posts now. It shocks me how easy things can slip away, and reminds me again that mastery requires continual effort. I feel as though I am continually rushing from one problem to another and I believe that the development of routine would be a fundamentally help me in my quest to meet the Ih Ho Chuan Challenge. Yet at the same time, it is hard to imagine having a routine when I feel like I am continually putting out fires and reacting to things.
So let’s see if I can remember what has been happening since my last post. Well first of all I think I had a week of training for my new IT Support Job with elections AB, from March 14th through 17th. We start setting up our local election office tomorrow April 6th and I am looking forward to the challenges it will bring. Though it sounds like May will be hectic as we prepare for and then run the polling for the Stony Plain – Spruce Grove area. I especially enjoyed having my cousin come visit for the week as he will be doing the IT Support for the Valleyview area polling and was able to join me for the training.
I believe the following week we then presented our beta forms and I really appreciated some of the feedback that came out of that event. I’m especially looking forward to adding a marvel superhero landing to my tonfa routine once I figure out how to fit it in. That same week however, I was offered a free 120 gallon aquarium with a 55 gallon sump. The catch was that it was built into the wall of a house someone had recently purchased and came with a bunch of fish already in it. I wound up using the weekend to build a new stand capable of supporting an obscene amount of weight and then with lots of help and sawing we were able to move the tanks over. They were however ridiculously heavy and I don’t think I will ever be moving those tanks again. Plus there were a few problems that popped up, but the system is running and the fish are happy and seem to be healthy. The tank move and set up overlapped with our spring break, which I completely forgot about. I was all ready for the class and waiting for Wolfie before finally realizing that there was no class that Monday.
Since then I have been attempting to clear out a backlog of electronics repairs that I had been meaning to get through for quite a while and we wound up renovating the back stairwell and have put in a pantry above the stairs. So this week has been busy with drywalling and painting.
I’m getting things done, and I am practicing a bit of kung fu though my numbers are still lower than I like I am still working away at them where and when I can. Even if my numbers are lower than I would like, I am still doing far more than I would have been doing if I wasn’t in the Ih Ho Chuan group. I still need to continue to try to build my practice into more of a scheduled routine though, and I need to be more consistent in reading everyone else’s blog posts as well as in making my own posts though.
Sounds like you got a lot going on. For a second I thought it was a hydroponic set-up underneath the tank. I’ve seen set ups like that, but I guess in reverse. Fish are on the bottom and they eat and algae growth.
Super hero landing with the tonfas sounds awesome.
Thanks for checking in and letting us know how you’re doing. I’ve always wanted a 120 gallon tank and I’m wondering what kinds of fish you have it in? I’ve raised African cichlids for years and I currently have a smaller 50 gallon tank running.
The tank came with a bunch of fish, there are 11 “adult” African Cichlids, and 4 bristlenose plecos in there. There were about 20 baby cichlids that I found in the sump and filter system, I’ve moved them to a different tank so that they can grow bigger before being readded to the main tank. My best guess is that these are mbuna’s, but there was no information when I got the fish about what they were.
